Slangster cats

2D TYPING GAME

Watch

overall

In this comic game, you play as Millie, a cat who's been picked on too many times for not knowing enough slang.

You fight your way through rough neighborhoods by rapping, aiming to expand your vocabulary and master new slang.

But rapping is not easy, success in these battles requires quick typing skills, precise word choice, and a solid grasp of the latest lingo.

Concept

The gameplay involves typing the correct slang to deal damage to opponents and checking the dictionary where new words and definitions are added. Winning earns Reputation Points that unlock new levels.

Currently, the game takes place on the dangerous London streets, but team BLEEEH hopes to add to it more zones and slang varieties.

MENU INTERFACE

The UI design is consistent with the comical and childish style of the game, with menus shaped like a cat paw and buttons placed playfully on their pink pads, or on the fish-shaped cracker.

For the typography, Modak and Bubblegum Sans were chosen for their resemblance to graffiti tags.

The background was darkened to create a sense of depth and features the team members' tags, as well as a popular character: Aeul, made by a Romanian graffiti artist.

HUD DESIGN

The in-game interface needed to blend with its surroundings, so I used a dog tag as the Reputation Points (RP) container, and a dictionary icon designed specifically to fit with the overall style.

By using Unity Timeline for the animations, a bouncy, rubber-like effect was created to resemble a classic cartoon moment.
